Removal of dilated vessels with the MeDioStar® laser machine

Dilated vessels and other skin issues of vascular nature such as haemangiomas or angiofibromas affect women as well as men. Due to the genetic predisposition and hormones, dilated vessels have a larger impact on women. Nonetheless, even the men sometimes need aesthetic help if they want to get rid of unattractive vessels in the area of cheeks, nose and other parts of the face.

Although none of the mentioned problems is dangerous to health, they can present a seriously unpleasant condition especially when they affect visible parts of the body. The MeDioStar® laser treatment is one of the most advanced, comfortable and gentle removal methods without the need of convalescence.

The risk factors of dilated vessel emergence include:

  • genetic predisposition
  • UV radiation
  • age
  • hormonal fluctuations
  • smoking
  • drinking alcohol
  • local application of corticosteroids

What can be treated with the MeDioStar® machine?

  • Couperosis: Couperosis is a disease of small blood vessels (capillaries, veins and arteriola) in the skin. The vessels lose their elasticity and their walls become thinner. Subsequently, they become visible through the skin, more or less noticeable. They appear on various parts of the body, but most frequently on the face.
  • Haemangiomas: Haemangiomas are benign tumours that rise above the skin or mucous membrane surface. They belong in the group of mesenchymal tumours of blood vessels. They often grow for a certain time, then they can shrink and disappear without treatment or stop growing and we only need to monitor them. These tumours are usually red, red-brown or purple and their sizes are from several millimetres to centimetres. After a touch, they temporarily turn pale. They most frequently occur in children where we refer to them as infantile haemangiomas; they are the most common benign tumours in child age. In adult age, however, they can appear due to excessive sun exposition or skin ageing.
  • Angiomas: Angiomas are benign tumours that develop from blood vessels. They have the shape of a small raised or flat structure on the skin. They are typically red. These formations appear on the skin surface, on various parts of the body. They frequently affect elderly persons in line with their ageing organisms.
  • Angiofibromas: Angiofibromas are benign tumours that that develop from blood vessels and connective tissues. These structures are typically firm, reddish or pink formations. They most frequently appear on the face, usually in the nose area, and can be visible as small nodules or bumps on the skin. Although the angiofibromas are benign, in some cases they can grow and cause aesthetic or functional problems, mainly if they are located near important anatomical structures.
  • Telangiectasias: Telangiectasias are small visible dilated blood vessels (capillaries) located near the skin or mucous membrane surface. These vessels can be red, purple or blueish and they often create a fine web on the skin surface. They most frequently appear on the face – usually in the nose, cheek and chin areas, but also on other parts of the body. Telangiectasias can develop due to various factors including ageing, excessive exposure to the sun, genetic predisposition or as part of certain health conditions such as rosacea or vein problems.

Laser treatment process

Laser therapy with a high-performance MeDioStar® laser machine is effective, precise and non-invasive. MeDioStar® uses an ergonomic attachment specially designed for treatment with a wavelength of 940 nm.

The client arrives for a treatment with cleansed skin, without make-up. The treatment takes about 15-30 minutes depending on the treated area.

The skin is cooled in the treatment area to reduce pain, yet the client can feel a slight stinging sensation in the laser operation area.

Convalescence

After the laser treatment, the vessels heal for about 7 to 21 days. Immediately after treatment, the skin can be sensitive and reddened, sometimes blistered (this is a natural reaction of the skin), but these symptoms will gradually disappear.

During this period, you should avoid direct sunlight or solarium, excessive heat such as sauna or hot bath and use high-factor creams (SPF50). The treated skin should not be exposed to intense physical exercise for at least 24-48 hours after the treatment.

Laser treatment contraindications

  • pregnancy and breast-feeding
  • active skin infections or inflammations in the treatment area (except acne)
  • recent sunbathing or use of self-tanning products
  • photophobia or medications that increase sensitivity to light
  • chronic skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis in the treatment area
  • antibiotic
  • oncological disease

To avoid undesirable reactions, you should consult your health condition with a specialist before the treatment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the vessel removal cost?

  • The price of the dilated vessel removal depends on the extent of the treatment, amount of the vessels and clinic where the treatment is carried out.

How to treat dilated vessels on the face?

  • One of the most effective solutions is laser therapy, which helps reduce visibility of the vessels by closing them by means of targeted heating. Other options include K vitamin creams or vein-firming products. However, laser is the fastest and most effective solution.

How long do the vessels heal after laser treatment?

  • After the laser treatment, the vessels heal for about 7 to 21 days. The skin can become slightly reddened and sensitive, but these symptoms gradually disappear. You need to follow recommendations such as avoiding the sunlight and using protective creams with a high factor (SPF50). We also recommend avoiding intense physical exercise (increased exertion) for at least 24-48 hours after the laser treatment.
