Who is this treatment suitable for?
A breast lift is an operation suitable for patients, who are happy with their bust size, but dissatisfied with their shape or firmness. In this case, this procedure can significantly increase your confidence. The shape of the breasts depends on many factors, especially skin elasticity, sudden changes in body weight, pregnancy rate and breastfeeding. Elasticity of the skin gradually decreases with age, with the result that the breasts often drop and lose their former shape and firmness.
Suitable candidates for bust firmness are healthy women in a good mental state who have realistic ideas about the results that can be achieved with mastopexy. The best results are achieved in women with small breasts. Many women require breast shaping after pregnancy and the subsequent breastfeeding where their breasts have changed shape: they sag; the skin is stretched, and the breasts have lost their volume. If you are planning to have more children in the future, it is advisable to postpone the breast lift procedure. If you already have surgery behind you, pregnancy and breastfeeding are not a problem, but you need to anticipate subsequent ptosis and diminished breast volume.
Before surgery
At a personal consultation, your doctor will examine you, listen to your requirements and familiarise you with the procedure and the breast lift results. You will be given instructions from your doctor how to be prepared for your surgery. Smoking and use of certain medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid (such as Acylpyrin, Aspirin, Alnagon, Mironal, and others that may increase bleeding during and after surgery) should be avoided. It is expected that you should not become ill (cold, flu, etc.) for at least 6 weeks before the scheduled surgery. It is necessary to inform your physician of any disease you may suffer from. In the first days of post-operative care, arrange an assistant who will help you at home.
During surgery
Mastopexy usually takes one and a half to three and a half hours. There are some variations of the procedures that are divided according to the location of the scar. The physician selects the type of breast lift according to the range of ptosis and the desired post-operative effect. The size and weight of the client's breast play a role in this decision.
The operation is always performed under general anaesthesia. The aim is to adjust the shape of breasts, not their size. If a woman is more than 40 years old or has congenital preconditions for breast cancer, a tissue sample of the mammary gland is automatically taken to make a so-called histological examination. In every breast lift procedure, the incisions and thus the resulting scars are located in a way to be as inconspicuous as possible, and they are always hidden at least by the underwear. The breast lift procedure is also performed on patients who have had breasts enlarged in the past with implants.
After surgery / Recovery
After the breast lift procedure, you may experience pain at the surgical site. The breasts will be swollen, and bruises may develop. These signs disappear after 3 -5 weeks. For pain relief, your doctor will recommend taking analgesics. Despite the fact that it is a relatively large and demanding surgical procedure, the patients do not feel significant pain. After surgery, you will be hospitalised for one day. During hospitalisation, on the second day after the operation, we change the post-operative bandages to a compression bra, which needs to be worn for four to six weeks, or for a longer time in case of demanding work or sporting activities. After surgery, it is necessary to rest for several days. It is not recommended to exercise for 6 weeks after a breast lift.
